In Malaysia, millions of hectares of agricultural
land are planted with rubber trees (Hevea Brasiliensis). In its productive
lifetime of approximately 30 years, a rubber tree produces latex or rubber,
the basic ingredient for tyres and a host of other products.
At the end of its productive latex cycle the rubber trees are harvested. For every tree felled, a fresh sapling takes its place. Malaysia is one of the largest producers of rubber in the world and this source of recyclable plantation forest is bountiful in Malaysia. Rubber wood is widely recognised as a sustainable and environmentally friendly timber resource. |
